A college football fan who went viral this week after being caught on camera during a live broadcast has shared some of the messages she's received since being identified by internet sleuths.

What she's received

Speaking on TikTok, the fan shared several of the messages, ranging from unsolicited "dating credentials" listing income and physical stats, to offers of designer gifts and grocery runs. She responded to most with a mix of amusement and polite deflection, noting she's already in a relationship.

Part of a wider pattern

She joins a long list of people who've found themselves thrust into internet fame purely from a well-timed camera shot at a sporting event. Past examples include a disappointed Pakistan cricket fan whose reaction became a viral meme in 2018, and various spectators spotted in the crowd during recent World Cups who briefly became online sensations of their own.

When viral fame turns into a payday

Some viral moments have led to genuinely significant earnings. Haliey Welch, known online as "Hawk Tuah Girl," became a household name after a 2024 street interview clip went viral, going on to launch a podcast, merchandise line, and a cryptocurrency that later crashed amid scam accusations. She's reportedly now worth around $500,000.

Jack Kay, dubbed "Ibiza Final Boss" after a distinctive haircut caught the internet's attention at a beach club in Ibiza, has since signed a fashion brand deal, appeared at festivals, featured in a Channel 4 documentary, and even competed in a boxing match, reportedly building a net worth of around £2 million since going viral.
