Eminem has left much of the internet stunned after responding to a claim that no word in English rhymes with "silver."
The challenge
The debate began after Uber Eats posted on X that "there's no word in English that rhymes with 'silver,'" prompting the Rock The Bells account to directly challenge Eminem, giving him 24 hours to prove otherwise.
What he said
Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, responded just over 24 hours later with a lengthy string of words and phrases that all rhymed with "silver," writing: "Silver pilfer kill fer Gilbert's still hurts steel shirts Bill Burr milf word off kilter no filter chill brrrr feel burn still slur will stir Trent dilfer Val kilmer Still third shield her he'll squirt Steven Spielberg Lil twerp Wilshire She'll purr Kill birds milk curd feel worth Real nerd Stans documentary I liked your film sir."
Fans reacted with enthusiasm, with one commenter saying the response deserved a million likes, and another praising the wordplay as genius.
His history with addiction
Eminem has spoken openly about his past struggles with drugs, having been sober for more than 17 years. He's described a period in 2007 marked by depression and dependency on pills, culminating in waking up in hospital following an overdose with no memory of how he got there. Following that experience, he said he knew he needed to make a change to avoid dying.
He released the album Relapse in 2009 shortly after entering recovery, and although he's said the reception from fans was lukewarm at the time, it pushed him to fully commit to sobriety, which he's since come to view as a source of pride rather than something to feel embarrassed about.
