Tay Lautner, wife of actor Taylor Lautner, has spoken candidly about how her pregnancy has affected her body image and her relationship, ahead of the couple welcoming their first child, a baby girl.
Adjusting to a changing body
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, Tay said the physical changes of pregnancy caught her off guard, admitting she'd gained more weight than she expected and had compared her experience to her mother's pregnancy, where the changes were far less visible. She said the comparison had been difficult to navigate, though being open about it publicly has helped her feel more at ease with it over time.
She also pushed back gently on the idea of a "pregnancy glow," saying that when people commented on it, her instinct was to point out that she'd simply gained weight and her face had changed shape, rather than something she felt was glowing.
Her admission about intimacy
Tay went on to discuss how the changes had affected her intimacy with Taylor, saying she's been making an effort to be more comfortable being naked in front of him as a way of accepting her changing body. She recalled texting friends during her first trimester to ask whether they were still having sex during pregnancy, suggesting she and Taylor had gone through a period of reduced intimacy themselves during that time.
She said navigating the negative thoughts that came with her body image struggles has been an ongoing process, describing how she reminds herself that Taylor doesn't see her the way she sometimes sees herself, and that leaning on his support has helped her push back against that self-criticism.
