Back in 2024, Orlando Bloom may have stumbled onto the secret to a happy relationship — and it apparently had nothing to do with grand romantic gestures. It started with a very candid podcast confession from his then-fiancée, Katy Perry.
Katy Perry's confession on Call Her Daddy
Appearing on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, Perry revealed that acts of service were her ultimate love language, telling listeners in explicit terms that Bloom keeping the kitchen spotless and doing every chore around the house was, in her words, far more appealing to her than any expensive gift. She joked that she'd rather he did the dishes than bought her a Ferrari, since money was never the issue — effort was.
Bloom's reply went viral
Bloom didn't let the comments go unanswered. Underneath an Instagram post promoting the podcast episode, he simply wrote: "I've cleaned the whole house."
The five-word reply quickly went viral, racking up thousands of likes and plenty of praise for his sense of humour.
A relationship built on more than jokes
At the time, Perry and Bloom were one of Hollywood's most talked-about couples. They first met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019, and welcomed daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020.
During the same podcast appearance, Perry opened up about a rockier chapter in their relationship — a year they spent apart before reconciling. She said Bloom's decision to attend the Hoffman Institute, a personal development programme aimed at working through emotional patterns, changed things for both of them once she went through the same programme herself.
Where they are now
After nearly a decade together, Perry and Bloom confirmed their split in 2025, though they continue to co-parent Daisy Dove. Perry has since moved on to a relationship with Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada.
The romance may be over, but Bloom's five-word comeback remains one of the internet's favourite celebrity relationship moments — and it probably still gets a few people to finally load the dishwasher.
