Miley Cyrus fans think she's teasing something big, after spotting a small but significant change to her official website.
The Taylor Swift story that got things started
Speculation ramped up after Cyrus appeared on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, where she was asked how Taylor Swift ended up appearing in Hannah Montana: The Movie back in 2009. Cyrus explained that Swift, early in her career at the time, had been chosen for a barn performance scene because producers wanted someone who could authentically pull it off. Swift ended up writing an original song for the film as part of her involvement.
Fans have since joked that maybe the pair swapped notes on how to build anticipation for a new album while they were at it.
What actually changed
The real hint fans have fixated on is Cyrus quietly dropping her surname from her website branding. She now appears simply as "Miley," joining single-name stars like Cher and Madonna. To longtime fans, a rebrand like this is a familiar signal — Cyrus has changed her public image and sound at the start of nearly every album era throughout her career.
Fans are convinced it means new music
Reaction on X was swift, with fans calling the move a classic "Miley era reset" and predicting new music is on the way. Several pointed out that her rebrands have historically lined up with major creative shifts, and that this one feels like the start of something similar.
A difficult week behind the scenes
The apparent rebrand comes during a tough personal stretch for Cyrus, who recently lost her godmother, Dolly Parton. Parton died on 25 August in Nashville following a brief illness. Cyrus paid tribute on Instagram, describing Parton as someone who'd been a constant presence in her life since birth, and said she planned to process her grief the way Parton would have wanted — by writing music about it.
