Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber have sparked concern online after photos from a wedding over the weekend appeared to capture a heated exchange between the couple. A body language expert has since weighed in on what the pictures actually show.
The photos that sparked speculation
The couple were among the guests at Finneas O'Connell and Claudia Sulewski's wedding at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. In photos taken away from the main crowd, Hailey was pictured waving her arms and pointing animatedly while speaking to Justin, who stood by quietly in sunglasses before the pair walked off in separate directions. The images quickly went viral, with fans speculating the couple may have been arguing in front of other guests.
What the body language expert actually said
Body language expert Judi James analysed the photos and said that while the scene does give an impression of tension, largely due to the way Hailey appears to be looking back at Justin, it doesn't necessarily indicate the two were in direct conflict. She noted that Justin's posture, described as slightly hunched with his arms hanging in front of his torso, made him appear reserved and less engaged, but not necessarily defensive.
Crucially, James pointed out that Hailey's expressive hand movements weren't directed at Justin specifically, meaning there's no clear signal the two were arguing with each other at all. She suggested Hailey may instead have been animatedly recounting a story or expressing frustration about something entirely unrelated to her husband.
The couple's response
Just hours after the photos went viral, Justin posted a series of affectionate behind-the-scenes selfies with Hailey from the wedding on his Instagram, showing the pair smiling together, in what appeared to be a direct response to the speculation.
