Robert Irwin has shared the most important lesson he learned from his father, the late Steve Irwin, 20 years to the day since the beloved conservationist's death while filming at the Great Barrier Reef.

Speaking exclusively to LADbible as part of the outlet's Honesty Box series, Robert, 22, said his father used to tell him to treat every living being the way he'd wish to be treated himself. He explained that his father extended the familiar idea of treating people with respect to every animal, plant, and living thing he encountered, saying it's a principle he's carried with him his entire life and one he believes more people could benefit from adopting.
Robert reflected that approaching everything with passion and respect, whether it's a person or an animal, is something he considers genuinely important, pointing to his father's handling of dangerous animals, from Komodo dragons to king cobras, as a real-world example of that philosophy in action.
Terri Irwin on life since his death
Steve's widow, Terri, has also spoken recently about the reality of life after his passing. Speaking to Australia's 10 News, she reflected on the strange permanence of her husband remaining frozen at 44 in every photo and TV appearance, while she continues to age without him.
Terri also addressed her decision to remain single since his death, saying she believes she already found her happily ever after with Steve and still feels full of love in her life. She was clear that she doesn't consider herself lonely simply because she isn't in a relationship, distinguishing between missing her husband specifically and feeling isolated more generally.
