New details have emerged about Lady Gaga's first child, following recent photos of the singer out in public carrying her newborn.
The baby's name and birth details
According to a birth certificate obtained by TMZ, Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky's daughter is named Rose Bean Polansky. She was born on 9 June at 11:19pm at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, delivered by Dr Robert Katz.
The meaning behind the name
A source told PEOPLE the name draws inspiration from "La Vie En Rose," the classic song Gaga famously covered in A Star Is Born. Gaga also has a large tattoo running down her spine of a single rose on a long stem, alongside the words "la vie en rose." The baby's middle name, Bean, is believed to pay tribute to Carl Bean, who reportedly inspired Gaga's hit song "Born This Way." Gaga's representatives declined to comment when contacted by UNILAD.
Signs fans missed beforehand
Gaga had spoken publicly about wanting to become a mother in the months leading up to the birth. Speaking to Stephen Colbert, she said: "I would like to do many things. All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That's my next starring role, I hope." She echoed similar sentiments to The New York Times, saying: "I'm excited to be a mom. I used to have a lot of apprehension about it. The thing that's the most important to me is to not force my children to live a life that they are not choosing. So the more that we can give them space to discover who they are on their own, that's the thing that I believe in the most."
Gaga also kept an unusually low public profile in recent months, skipping this year's Met Gala, with one of her last major appearances being the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in April. A source told Page Six she'd been enjoying a quieter life since her tour ended, saying: "She hasn't really gotten to have a private life since she was like 22. She's been laying low since the tour ended."
